Collaboration Recognition Program (CRP)

Lasell University is dedicated to preparing its students for real-world success. The Collaboration Recognition Program (CRP) helps students build the essential teamwork and communication skills employers actively seek. This program goes beyond traditional grades, specifically acknowledging a student's ability to work effectively with others - sharing ideas, communicating professionally, and cooperating to achieve common goals.

Why Collaboration is Key for Careers Today

In the current competitive job market, collaboration is a fundamental skill. The National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) found that, when reviewing rèsumès, nearly 80% of employers are seeking candidates who have strong teamwork skills. Lasell's CRP proactively integrates collaborative learning into courses and hands-on experiences that ensure graduates have these vital career skills.

How the CRP Works

  • Over 70 faculty have participated in the CRP over the past four years. Professors bring collaborative learning into the classroom through the principles of collaboration, which include listening, negotiating, integrity, respect, and communication.

Through coursework, group assignments, internships and community partnerships, students gain hands-on experience developing collaboration skills.

  • Students define their own collaboration goals at the start of the semester and work on these skills in classroom discussions and projects as well as outside the classroom in campus clubs and athletics.

They learn to build strong working relationships, achieve shared objectives, value diverse perspectives, and contribute effectively to a team.

  • At the end of each semester, students are selected by their peers to receive the Collaboration Recognition Award for showing superior collaboration skills.

This formal recognition is a powerful testament to a student's collaborative abilities and can be highlighted on a rèsumè, showcasing a unique skill to stand out in a competitive job market.
