Doctor Wirth is a self-proclaimed data nerd with a passion for trying new approaches inside and outside the classroom. Previously in the marketing world, he has an extensive professional background, having led digital strategy for brands like GEICO, Hilton Hotels and Resorts, as well as international NGOs and small mom-and-pop startups. Wirth has experience in a wide breadth of the communications field, having served as a celebrity publicist, worked for years in the sales industry, and worked as a sports information director for a major-conference Division I athletics program.

Wirth now spends his time evolving his data analysis skills, including a number of programming languages, and advising a campus-wide, student-led digital communications agency. He hopes to combine expertise and tactics from across a multitude of industries to push students to be both successful professionals and adaptable human beings.

He received his master's in communications and media technologies from Rochester Institute of Technology and his bachelor's in public relations from Mississippi State University.
