Position Description


The Graduate Education Program at Lasell University is seeking a highly motivated and organized Graduate Assistant to support various department initiatives. The ideal candidate will be an enthusiastic and engaged graduate student who is passionate about education and committed to fostering a positive academic experience for faculty, students, and alumni. This is an excellent opportunity to develop professional skills in communication, event planning, student services, and higher education administration.

Potential Duties include:

  • Provide administrative support to Graduate Education faculty, including preparation of materials, scheduling meetings, and assisting with program initiatives.
  • Serve as a point of contact for graduate students, offering support related to program requirements, registration assistance, and general inquiries.
  • Support outreach efforts to alumni through email communications, newsletters, and social media, promoting engagement with the program.
  • Assist in organizing and executing the department’s bi-annual Graduate Education Symposium, including scheduling, coordination of speakers and sessions, promotion, and day-of-event logistics.
  • Maintain and update graduate education databases, contact lists, and other departmental records.
  • Provide input and assistance with special projects as needed (e.g., program review, accreditation preparation, curriculum updates).
  • Collaborate with staff across the Graduate and Professional Studies division to support strategic goals.

Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled (or accepted) in a graduate program at Lasell University, preferably in Education or a related field.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Excellent organizational abilities and attention to detail.
  • Capacity to manage time effectively and work independently on multiple tasks.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Google Workspace, and virtual meeting platforms (e.g., Zoom).
  • Experience in event planning, student services, or academic administration is a plus.

Exepected Hours:

  • Approximately 10–15 hours per week, flexible schedule
  • Some evening or weekend hours may be required around symposium events
