Radiologic Technology Overview

Lasell University’s Associate of Science in Radiologic Technology teaches you the technical expertise, patient-care skills, and professional confidence to perform diagnostic imaging safely and effectively. On completion of graduation, students will be allowed to sit for the certifying registry examination, administered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).

According to the ARRT, radiologic technologists are the third largest group of healthcare professionals after doctors and nurses.

What does a Radiologic Technologist do?

Radiologic technologists take images of patients’ bodies using specialized medical equipment. These images assist physicians in identifying and treating illnesses or injuries. Radiologic technologists have a wide range of settings for employment, including small outpatient clinics, pain clinics, sports medicine facilities, urgent care centers and hospitals of all trauma levels.

Students may choose to specialize in other modalities such as CT, MRI, sonography, or radiation therapy, after first earning the required Radiologic Technologist credentials.

How does Lasell's program prepare Radiologic Technologists?

With an Associate Degree of Science in Radiologic Technology, you'll be prepared to:

  • Perform diagnostic imaging procedures safely and effectively
  • Ensure patient safety and comfort
  • Apply radiation protection principles
  • Work with other medical professionals in clinical healthcare settings
  • Be ready to sit for the national certification examination and become a Registered Technologist in Radiography R.T. (R).
