Part-time Education Instructor/Sheltered English Immersion

The Education Teacher Preparation Program in the School of Humanities, Education, Justice & Social Sciences at Lasell University is seeking a part-time instructor to teach a  face-to-face course on Sheltered English Immersion.

The course is scheduled for Mondays and Wednesdays 11:00 – 12:15 and runs from Sept. 9 through Dec. 13 (final exams run through Dec. 20)

Opportunities for teaching in future semesters will be discussed with more flexibility on days/times.

The Education Teacher Preparation Program in the School of Humanities, Education, Justice & Social Sciences at Lasell University is seeking a part-time instructor to teach a  face-to-face course on Sheltered English Immersion.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Provide instruction for all sessions of assigned courses utilizing the college philosophy of connected learning and requirements set by the MA DESE Educator Preparation guidelines.
  • Provide a syllabus and course outline to students that clearly communicates course learning outcomes. An existing syllabus will be provided with MA DESE requirements.
  • Align some course assignments with departmental and college core curriculum goals learning goals and provide student work samples for college assessment purposes (sample assignments available)
  • Maintain office hours each week and timely communications with students via  Zoom or phone.  Respond to student emails within 24 hours.
  • Incorporate Canvas (online learning platform) into the course.
  • Keep accurate records of student progress (grades) and complete mid-semester and final grade reports using our Starfish system.

Qualifications:

  • A master’s degree (doctoral degree preferred) in education in the area of English as a second language or bilingual education and willingness is required.  Experience with the SEI DESE course and prior college teaching preferred.  A willingness to incorporate the college’s Connected Learning Philosophy into the course is an essential component of this position. Familiarity with Canvas or other learning management systems a plus.
