Biography:

Joseph M. Rahm, M.S.F.S/Ph.D. is an Assistant Professor of Forensic Science at Lasell University. He specializes in forensic DNA analysis, with a particular focus on optimizing touch DNA collection methods from challenging substrates using novel sampling devices. His research explores improvements in allele recovery, DNA amplification, and evidence processing workflows to strengthen the reliability of forensic casework.

In addition to his forensic biology research, Dr. Rahm is also active in biology education research, examining the impact of peer-led team learning (PLTL) on student success, graduation rates, and retention in STEM fields. He integrates this commitment to evidence-based pedagogy into his teaching, fostering inclusive and engaging learning environments.

At Lasell, Dr. Rahm teaches courses in Forensic Science, Trace Evidence & Microscopy, and Forensic DNA Analysis, preparing students for careers in forensic laboratories, law enforcement, and graduate studies. He is passionate about bridging hands-on laboratory skills with critical thinking and problem-solving, encouraging students to view science as both a technical and investigative discipline.
