Placing Course Reserves

If you are a student interested in accessing items on reserve, see our page on Using Course Reserves.

Lasell faculty may request to have items placed on reserve. Reserve materials circulate for two hours and cannot leave the library. Books and DVDs owned by Brennan Library can be placed on reserve, as can professors’ personal copies of items. Materials borrowed from other libraries cannot go on reserve.

Please note that the library does not purchase textbooks. We suggest contacting your textbook publisher to request a desk copy that you may put on reserve.

To place a book or DVD from the library on reserve, please fill out the reserves request form.

To place a personal copy of a book, DVD, CD, or periodical on reserve, please bring your item to Dev Singer, Technical Services & Electronic Resources Librarian. The “add to reserves” form for personal items is available online, or at the library circulation desk.

To remove items from reserve, please fill out the reserves withdrawal form. Dev Singer or another library staff member will contact you to pick up any personal materials that were on reserve.

At the end of the semester:

  • We will remove all reserve items to make way for reserves for the next semester. If your course runs for a full year, make sure to indicate this on your reserves submission form.
  • When a personal copy has been removed from reserve it will be placed on the hold shelf behind the circulation desk and you will be notified by email that it is available to be picked up.
  • If a personal item is not picked up within 1 week of being notified, the item will be mailed to your office or department via inter-department mail.
  • If a removal request is made for a personal item in person at the library, it can be picked up at that time as long as the sticker and barcode are removed.

If you have any questions regarding reserves, please contact Dev Singer.

  • Materials will circulate for two hours at a time and may not leave the library.
  • Brennan Library is not responsible for loss, theft, or damage to personal items placed on reserve.
