Collection overview
The Winslow Archives collects materials that document the history and growth of Lasell from its beginnings as the Auburndale Female Seminary in 1851. Types of materials collected include:
- Administrative and committee records
- University publications
- Photographs
- Audio/visual materials
- Manuscript collections of alumnae and current and former members of the faculty and administration
- Student life records
- Lasell University ephemera
- Appropriate books, as determined by the archivist
Digital collections
Select items from the archives, including books, yearbooks, college newsletters, and course catalogs, are available freely online through the Internet Archive. Lasell’s digital collection is searchable by date, title, or topic. Funding for this project was provided by the Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA) and the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners (MBLC), administered by the Boston Public Library and the Digital Commonwealth.
The archives’ collection of thirty-eight 16mm films has also been fully digitized, including the following:
- River Days and Field Days
- May and June Fêtes
- White Mountains excursions
- Dance and music recitals
- Sports
- Building tours
Select films are available on YouTube. Those that are not available online due to copyright restrictions can be viewed on campus; email the archivist to make a viewing appointment.
