The School of Health Sciences at Lasell University seeks an adjunct professor to teach (1) section of Science of Sport in the Fall 2022 semester.
The courses will meet in person:
· Mondays and Wednesdays 12:30-1:45 PM (PHYS 108.A)
Course Title: Science of Sport
Description
This course will look at how certain basic principles of science govern the major operations of many different sports. Introductory concepts of physics and anatomy are covered through the application of sports. Students will conduct inquiry-based projects focusing on areas of interest. The goal of this course is to help students develop the practices of science such as asking researchable questions, planning and carrying out investigations, analyzing data and other related skills that will enhance their quality of life and professional success.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Provide instruction for all sessions of assigned courses utilizing the college philosophy of connected learning
Align course assignments with departmental learning outcomes and university core curriculum learning outcomes; provide student work samples for assessment purposes
Incorporate Canvas (learning management system) into the course
Maintain office hours each week
Keep accurate records of student progress and complete mid-semester and final grade reports
Minimum Qualifications:
• Candidates should have M.S, M.Ed., or equivalent (PhD preferred) in related field
• Prior undergraduate-level teaching experience
• Strong communication skills, ability to provide mentorship and guidance remotely by email, phone and or video call, and willingness to offer extensive feedback on student work Required
