Finance at Lasell
The B.S. in Finance major degree program prepares students for successful careers in the dynamic finance industry. Students will be prepared to work in private, public, and nonprofit organizations such as commercial banking, financial planning, investment banking, money managing, insurance and real estate.
Finance students develop a foundation for financial management in a variety of settings.
The program offers finance degrees in Corporate Finance and Personal Finance.
Program Features

Personal Finance students can prepare for the CFP (Certified Financial Planner) exam by completing a seven-course CFP Certificate program. This coursework is embedded into the curriculum, and has been developed in collaboration with other colleges to provide a strong foundation in all aspects of financial literacy, planning, security, and management. The courses are registered under the CFP Board of Standards and are offered in a convenient online format.
- Students are taught to analyze financial data, value financial and real assets, and provide financial advice to individuals and companies making decisions about allocating scarce resources in a global environment.
- The Finance major offers students various project-focused service-learning opportunities. Students are highly encouraged to take a Service Learning course such as SVL108, Tax Volunteer.
- The Internship program provides a capstone work experience for all Finance students during their senior year.
- Students in the Longe School of Business gain networking and job opportunities through the Advisory Board that helps ensure that our curriculum aligns with the in-demand skills employers are looking for to meet industry needs and trends.

Learning Outcomes
- Apply time value of money analysis to personal and corporate financial decision-making.
- Evaluate risk-operational, business, financial and traditional-for a given situation and recommend measures to appropriately address situations appropriately.
- Distinguish among various financial intermediaries and markets.
- Evaluate various personal and commercial investment alternatives and conduct financial analysis of a business situation and make recommendations based on the analysis results.

Career Success in Finance
Finance majors learn a broad range of transferable skills and gain strong competence in critical thinking and hands on business experience. There is a wide variety of Connected Learning opportunities both on and off-campus for students. Additionally, all students in the Finance major participate in a minimum of one internship as well as Service Learning. Students are prepared to be start their own businesses, become managers and business leaders in a complex and challenging global business environment for years to come.
