Lasell University senior Sandra Fakih '24 is on track to graduate this spring with an Entrepreneurship degree and a minor in Fashion Merchandising and Management. In addition to her coursework, Sandra is engaged in extracurricular initiatives. She is an active member of Lasell’s Career Closet club, a campus organization that works to provide professional clothing for students interviewing for jobs or attending professional networking events.

Though Sandra was initially attracted to Lasell because of its respected business program, she quickly realized there were many fields of study that stoked her passion. Lasell University has encouraged Sandra to create her own academic trajectory, offering diverse classes and programs for her to experience and explore.

“One thing about Lasell that I love, is you can constantly broaden your horizons and seek out other paths,” said Fakih.

While Sandra hopes to start her own business one day, she is also considering pursuing a master’s in nursing following commencement in May.

With guidance from faculty and staff, coupled with classroom and experiential learning Sandra has identified personal and professional goals and developed a plan to achieve them.

Even though Sandra is enrolled in the business and fashion programs, Lasell made it possible for her “ … to fit prerequisites in other majors into her schedule.” This flexibility will allow Sandra to decide post-graduation whether to pursue a career in business or fashion or continue her education in healthcare.

One class had a tremendous influence on Sandra. Professor Bruce McKinnion used actual business case studies as the focus of his entrepreneurship class. Sandra noted how these real-world examples resonated with her, “Seeing how others operate their businesses fascinated me since that is something I want to do someday.”

With a strong academic foundation, hands-on experience, and a flexible curriculum that met her evolving needs, Sandra is now ready to begin her next chapter.
