Fashion Revolution

In partnership with Fashion Revolution USA, an international fashion activist organization, Lasell University will offer its students the opportunity to travel to Greece this summer on a service learning trip focused on sustainable fashion management.
The Fashion Revolution Summer School in Greece trip is a credit-bearing opportunity for Lasell University students to immerse in topic areas including circularity in manufacturing, ancient Greek heritage garment techniques, digital fashion, plastic and waste reduction, and material production, all while engaging with local communities and cultural heritage sites. The three-week program culminates in a fashion technology Hackathon, in which students develop new fashion business concepts, implement new resources, and expand their co-working skills. Lasell students will join peers from other leading fashion institutions around the world.
Lasell adjunct professor Kathleen Grevers is the director of education for Fashion Revolution USA and has led the collaboration between the two organizations. She sees a myriad of opportunities for Lasell students who participate in the program.
“Lasell students are curious about fashion sustainability and ethics, and that fostered the development of this three-week immersion program in Greece focused on all avenues for sustainable outcomes in the fashion industry,” she says. “Lasell students will be able to take the ideas taught in the program and run with them in their fields of study.”
Fashion Revolution was recently featured on the TODAY Show as a leader in the growing trend of sustainable fashion production and reusable materials. Last week, the organization held its annual Fashion Revolution Week, a seven-day series of events that “collectively reimagine a just and equitable fashion system for people and the planet.”
Lasell’s School of Fashion currently offers undergraduate and graduate courses in sustainable sourcing, textile creation, fashion industry ethics, and sustainable innovation and design theory, as well as a Master of Business Administration in Sustainable Fashion Operations. The University’s partnership with Fashion Revolution seeks to expand students’ application of what they learn in class and provide community-driven Connected Learning experiences in real-world settings. Lasell students who participate in and complete the Fashion Revolution Summer School in Greece program will receive transfer credits from Athens University of Economics and Business.
