Snowshoeing in the Swiss Alps
February 15, 2019
One of the most memorable weekend trips I took abroad was when I traveled to Interlaken, Switzerland. Interlaken is a very scenic city filled with mountains and lakes. Not only is it a beautiful destination, but there are also lots of activities to keep you busy. One of the activities I did was snowshoeing through the Swiss Alps. I picked a perfect day to do it with the sun shining and not a cloud in sight. We wore these big, waffle-like shoes around our own shoes and then used two poles to guide us through the snow. It was a little difficult to get the rhythm down at first but I learned quickly and soon enough I was trudging up the mountain. It was quite the workout getting all the way up to the lookout point but it was well worth the sweat! The views were absolutely stunning. I had never experienced anything like that before. The air was pure and fresh and I did not have a worry in my mind. This was an activity that brought me peace and tranquility, and I urge you all to take part in some activity that involves the outdoors. We live in such a beautiful world and there is so much to be appreciated!
