Biography:

Rebecca DeMello Egan's professional work centers on the intersection of clinical mental health counseling, education, and the preparation of future helping professionals. As a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) and Perinatal Mental Health-Certified (PMH-C) provider, she maintains a private practice where she supports individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), major life transitions, and psychosocial stressors.

Rebecca's clinical work has been closely connected to her work in education. Prior to entering higher education, she worked as a licensed School Adjustment Counselor in the MetroWest area, supporting students with a range of social, emotional, and behavioral needs. Her clinical experiences continue to inform her work as an educator, where she emphasizes the integration of counseling theory, evidence-based practices, and practical clinical skills.

Rebecca joined Lasell University as an Adjunct Instructor before progressing to a Visiting Assistant Professor role, and ultimately becoming an Assistant Professor. She is particularly interested in helping students develop the clinical reasoning, self-awareness, and interpersonal skills needed to translate what they learn in the classroom into meaningful work with clients and communities. She especially enjoys mentoring students as they explore their strengths, interests, and professional identities, and helping them discover their own path and sense of purpose within the helping professions.

Rebecca graduated summa cum laude from Suffolk University with a B.A. in Communication Studies. She earned an M.A. in Criminal Justice from the University of Massachusetts Lowell, where she also completed graduate certificates in Victim Studies and Forensic Criminology, before earning an M.Ed. in Mental Health Counseling from Bridgewater State University. She is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Counseling & Supervision at James Madison University, with anticipated completion in 2029.
