Why did you choose Lasell?
I chose Lasell due to the small class sizes, welcoming community, proximity to Boston, and the ability to pursue a strong STEM degree while playing softball as well.
What activities or organizations do you participate in?
In addition to playing softball at Lasell, I am an active member in Project LASER which spreads awareness of sexual assault and domestic violence. I am also in the process of getting my EMT Certification along with working at the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner’s Office in Boston.
What opportunities has the Forensic Science major provided you?
The Forensic Science major offered at Lasell University has provided me with so much! I have been able to learn from professors who have worked at the Massachusetts State Police Crime Laboratory. With their experience, I am able to truly develop an education that will reflect the expected standards I will meet once I graduate. Not only that, but being able to gain hands on experience from those who were experts in their field has been nothing but amazing.
How do your professors support you?
My professors have been absolutely amazing. They truly do want the best for each and every student and they make it known. Being able to have an open line of communication and voicing my needs have helped my professors and me create endless opportunities to make sure I succeed both in and out of the classroom. They have been extremely supportive of my athletics and the future development of my professional career. Knowing I have professors who have my back and push me to be the best version of myself is truly something I am so grateful for.
Have you done any internships?
Yes, currently I am interning with the Executive Office of Public Safety and Security under the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Boston. Throughout my internship I have been able to see both the science and legal components of public safety. I will be working under the OCME for the rest of my senior year.
What is your favorite activity to do off campus?
I love going to Boston. It’s a quick 30 minute ride on the T and you get to explore such rich history. It’s great to be near the city, but it doesn’t feel overwhelming.
