Atllas Stone Builds a Future in Fashion
October 08, 2026
When senior fashion design major Atllas Stone arrived at Lasell as a first-year student, they knew very little about the fashion industry. Four years later as they begin their senior year, Stone has gained professional experience in the field, developed a deeper understanding of the industry, and secured a full-time position in fashion following graduation.
Stone’s experience at Lasell has been shaped by connected learning, with hands-on experiences outside the classroom playing an important role in their professional development.
This summer, Stone interned with Love Your Labels, a nonprofit organization that works with fashion-focused youth to help them break into the industry. During their internship, Stone gained experience on the e-commerce side of the organization, helping develop its merchandise plan and gaining a closer look at the business and operational side of fashion.
“I learned about them and really got interested in their mission and what they do in general,” Stone said. “It’s a lot of fun...Love Your Labels and Lasell have those interpersonal connections.”
Stone first learned about the internship opportunity through Rose Ledger, assistant professor of fashion, who encouraged them to get involved. The experience also gave Stone the opportunity to build on an existing connection between Love Your Labels and Lasell.
For Stone, the internship was another opportunity to apply what they have learned at Lasell while continuing to develop their understanding of the fashion industry.
“My time at Lasell has helped really prepare me for this, because coming into Lasell, I had no idea about the fashion industry,” Stone said. “Lasell really helped me sort of understand the logistical side of things and realize that there’s a lot more technical planning and such that goes into fashion design as well as creativity. And that’s what I really love about it.”
Through their coursework and experiences outside the classroom, Stone said they have also gained a better understanding of their own interests and strengths. Stone’s time at Lasell has helped them grow more confident in their communication skills and in their ability to navigate professional environments.
“That’s one thing that really helped me,” Stone said. “It really boosted my confidence when it comes to being able to talk with people.”
With their senior year now underway, Stone is continuing to build on the experience they have gained through their coursework, internships, and other opportunities through Lasell. Stone will graduate with a full-time position in the fashion industry already lined up, ready to put their experience into practice.
