The Office of Health Education

Well-Being Wheel

Be Well@Lasell

Our Mission

Our mission is to promote and enhance the health, well-being, and vitality of Lasell students. We envision a vibrant, health-oriented university community, consciously supporting eight dimensions of well-being: emotional, physical, social, spiritual, intellectual, financial, occupational, and environmental. We believe a sense of holistic (whole-person) well-being is a birthright. We believe every student can be Well@Lasell.

We are guided by the World Health Organization's long-standing definition of health: "Health is a state of complete physical, mental and social wellbeing and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity" (Preamble to the Constitution of WHO, 1946).

The Office of Health Education, situated within the Office of Student Affairs and the Counseling Center, invests in and develops wellness programs and health resources for Lasell students. We create awareness of preventative health and self-care knowledge, skills, and strategies to support student well-being and success. We strive to help undergraduates gain awareness, knowledge, and skills to sustain healthy habits to last a lifetime.

Our Vision

Our vision is a Lasell campus that is thriving and health-conscious, that enables growth, and supports well-being.

Peer Health Educators

The Peer Health Education program is run through the OHE and was created to foster peer leadership and education around issues related to health and well-being. The program was created to foster peer leadership and education around issues related to health and wellness. Peer Health Educators were originally trained throughout the year to be informed about issues that affect college students so that they may be a resource to their peers, and offers the opportunity to get involved in health promotion and be a leader in the Lasell community.

We are working on transitioning the Peer Health program into a 1-credit experimental course for Spring 2021. If you'd like to learn about public health, how to promote health, how to help coach someone in their own health, this is the extra credit you've been looking for! Look for the course description in the academic catalog.
