Why did you choose Lasell? What is your major?
I went to a small high school, so I wanted to have that same small school feel. I’ve played basketball here and recently completed the Shoulder to Shoulder program in Antigua.
I chose the Exercise Science program also because I always knew I wanted to go into the field.
How do your professors support you?
My professors have been extremely helpful in my growth as an exercise science student. They encourage us to ask questions. They're extremely approachable. I love how the classes are lecture-based, and they're very hands-on and encourage us to think critically.
How has technology and facilities helped you apply what you learned and gain experience?
Lasell's technology has helped me gain experience because with things like force plates. I use the same technology in my internship that we have here at Lasell. Lasell also has metabolic testing cart, jump pads, and equipment to test body composition. Those have all been extremely helpful in gaining experience in the exercise science field.
What internship have you done?
I'm currently interning at Harvard University with their strength conditioning program. It’s been a great internship. The coaches are all extremely supportive of our growth. I was even able to get a part time personal training job because of a connection I made with one of the coaches at Harvard. I've learned so much about strength conditioning and been able to use the tools like force plates that we’ve learned about in class. I learned how to use and read data from the force plates.
How has the Lasell exercise program prepared you for your career?
The exercise science program at Lasell has prepared me for my career outside of college, because I was able to make meaningful connections I've made with my professors and professionals in the field, my internship experience, and also the technology I've used because I have enrolled in the Master of Science in Applied Sports Science Analytics program this May.
