Why did you choose Lasell?
I chose Lasell because this program gave me the opportunity to balance academics with athletics while supporting my professional development. The Lasell community are people I can lean on, especially when I entered my freshman year as a fall athlete on the women's volleyball team and I had a built-in family from the start.
What clubs, athletics, organizations are you involved in?
I have been a captain of the women's volleyball team for three years while being involved in clubs and organizations such as the Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), Diversity Equity and Inclusion Club (DEI), the Psi Chi Honors Society, and the Chi Alpha Sigma National College Athlete Society.
I am part of the Honors Society on campus which allows me to adapt the lessons I learn in the classroom to projects that I am passionate about. As a research assistant, I have the opportunity to explore beyond Lasell's surface and understand the experiences of students on a deeper level, preparing me for future endeavors in graduate school.
Have you done any internships?
In the spring of 2025, I interned at the The Department of Children and Families (DCF). At DCF, I managed cases through assessing families and creating action plans while maintaining a trust-based relationship. I was exposed to families of varying demographics and able to connect with them on a personal level to help them navigate their journey towards a stable lifestyle. I attended court hearings, documented case notes, attended home and placement visits, as well as supervised family time for children in DCF custody. At this site, I learned how to approach clients with individuality, understanding that everyone comes from different experiences. This internship allowed me to gain confidence in working in parts of the human services field that were out of my comfort zone. Working directly with these families under supervision motivated me to pursue my education and work towards earning my Master's in Social Work at Boston College next Fall!
I am currently interning at The Baker Center for Children and Families where I support clinical staff in providing mental health services to children, adolescents, and families by gathering quantitative data and writing reports about their mental health assessments. Through organizing and maintaining client records, I practice confidentiality regulations which translate well into the psychology field. I am able to speak with clinicians about strategies for dealing with clients who express a wide range of behaviors and seek different types of treatments. This internship has taught me organizational skills, research documentation, and professionalism in the work environment, which are all tools crucial to working in the field of psychology.
How has your academic program or professors helped prepare you for your future career?
The Psychology program pushes students to reach outside of their comfort zone through support with finding internships that provide real-world experience while still receiving guidance along the way. The small classes mean professors here are more likely to work one-on-one with students. This allows students to make lasting genuine relationships with faculty.
What are your Lasell traditions or favorite activities to do on or off campus?
My favorite Lasell event is U-Belong day because it brings everyone out on campus to engage with one another while giving people the opportunity to experience pieces of different cultures - from tasting new foods to listening to Lasell student speakers.
