Why did you choose Lasell?
I chose Lasell for two major reasons - small class sizes and Lasell's strong sports program. I think it is amazing that the small classes allow me to get to connect with my professors and truly embrace Connected Learning. This gave me a leg up in the interview process for my internship with the Worcester Railers (ECHL affiliate of the NHL's New York Islanders). Being able to connect with professors like Libby O'Hara was the reason I came here and that's exactly what I got here. The second reason is the lacrosse team and the amazing coaching. Not only did Coach Treusdell make me feel welcome, but the campus has a homey feel.
What clubs, athletics, organizations are you involved in?
I'm involved in the Sport Leadership Club, the Blue Key Society ambassador program, and the National Society of Leadership and Success. I'm a Resident Assistant, Student Athletes Representative in Student Government, and I'm also the Men's Lacrosse and the Track and Field teams.
Have you had an internship?
My internship was at the Worcester Raiders. My role was big on helping fans and how the community connects to the team. On game days, I often helped at the kids' club table, or helping out fans in the concourse. On non-game days, I helped with tasks around the office, which can include a variety of things such as helping with chucking a puck and making the chuck a puck sets. I also helped with merchandise - packaging sold merchandise, making packs for sale, or helping make mini helmets for sale. I also helped with mascot events, escorting the mascot or assisting with the event itself.
What did you learn at your internship?
I learned a lot about the operations of a small front office and the importance of strong leadership and a close-knit staff. As this is a minor league team, they have a much smaller office, which means they have to do more work, and seeing how they balance it was an amazing learning experience. Along with that, in my time with the Railers, I have seen how sponsorships and partnerships are creatively promoted.
How has your academic program or professors helped prepare you for your future career?
My professors helped me get to where I am. My professors have backgrounds in their fields and they are able to give me insight into what I should be prepared for in interviews and prepare to work in my career field.
What are your Lasell traditions or favorite activities to do on or off campus?
I enjoy Patriots games, going to school sporting events, and trying new foods.
