Katie Hopkins '24 G'25

Being a student-athlete has given me the discipline, teamwork, and time management skills essential for success in my career. The balance between academics and athletics taught me how to prioritize tasks, work collaboratively, and maintain a high level of performance under pressure.

Katie has a degree in Exercise Science and is working on completing her Master's in Rehabilitation Science while playing softball at Lasell. She also has two part time jobs – one at Marathon Physical Therapy and one as Graduate Assistant for the Health and Exercise Science program at Lasell.

What internships did you have while completing your Exercise Science degree at Lasell?
I completed two internships during my time at Lasell. My first one was at a Physical Therapy clinic, Ivy Rehab, where I shadowed a physical therapist and assisted with exercises and programming. The second internship was at Newton Wellesley Hospital where I shadowed Exercise Physiologists performing exercise stress testing using EKGs and echocardiograms in the cardiology unit.

How did your internships connect with your classwork?
My two internships helped me apply what I have been learning in school to real life situations. They were also a great networking opportunity. I was able to build amazing relationships with professionals who can potentially assist me in the future. It helped me gain more confidence about myself and learn more about the field I see myself having a career in.
