Female student outside on a sunny day. I feel confident in moving forward in a career in graphic design

Why did you choose your major at Lasell?

I choose to get my degree from Lasell because of the small class size and the ways classes are structured. Personally, learning in a smaller setting helps me understand the material best. If there are any areas of confusion, asking my professor or my peers for help is much easier and less intimidating.

How has the Graphic Design program positively influenced your career outlook?

I feel confident in moving forward in a career in graphic design.

How has the Graphic Design program provided you with opportunities for growth?

The academic programs that I have taken at Lasell have provided me with the tools that I need to succeed in graphic design.

I have learned essentials such as basic color theory, grid layouts, and critical thinking on how to deliver a design that works.

In addition, I have learned a lot of Adobe products such as Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign. These tools allow me to express my creative ideas and have allowed me to become the graphic designer that I am today.

Have you done any internships?

Yes, I did a internship at WHDH-7 Channel 7 News as a Graphics intern. My role included creating graphics for news stories. The graphics would display onscreen with the news anchor. I also formatted images that producers and writers needed for air.

What is something you learned in class that you were instantly able to apply?

In my internship, I was able to apply my knowledge of consistent style/branding.

The news has a very specific look and style to it  - typography, urgency, color palette. When I first started at my internship, understanding how to create a new graphic while keeping consistent with the channel's identity was essential if I wanted my graphic to be able to air.
