Whitsundays Trip

February 27, 2019

One of my most memorable experiences abroad was a trip I took to the Whitsunday Islands in Airlie Beach, Australia. After a week of classes, me and a group of my friends flew up to Airlie Beach which hosts the southern part of the Great Barrier Reef. Once we arrived, we hopped on a boat and traveled around the islands for a couple of days. This was one of the most beautiful things I have ever experienced in my life. I was in the middle of the ocean with no cell service with a group of friends traveling Australia together. Words and pictures do not do this experience justice. On this trip I made memories with my friends as well as met some new friends along the way, such as a backpacker from Germany that happened to book the same trip as me and my friends.

On this trip we visited White Haven Beach which is the second most beautiful beach in the world. We also went to a deserted sand bar and watched the sunset behind the mountains on the islands. I saw the Great Barrier Reef, hundreds of fish, and even a couple sea turtles and dolphins. This experience made me realize how much the world has to offer. I was so used to my small bubble in New England but once I traveled all around Australia to these beautiful places, I gained a much greater perspective of the world. This was a truly amazing and beautiful experience.
