Data Science

The Data Science program is designed to prepare students for Data Science management and for entrepreneurial opportunities within this rapidly growing and challenging field.  This program is rooted in Connected Learning, requires students to gain at least one internship, and provides students with opportunities to earn industry certifications and badges.  Students can choose a major in Data Analytics or Cybersecurity.

The program is designed to prepare students for flourishing careers in the dynamic and challenging field of Data Science.  Students will learn about supporting operating systems, designing networks, and tailoring programs for multiple types of businesses. Through a multidisciplinary approach, students majoring in Data Science gain the expertise, commitment, and skills in this expanding industry. They learn about the inner workings of the Data Science industry through courses such as programming, data analytics, business statistics, information security, and project and program management to learn how Data Science supports the business world.  An industry focused advisory board connects students with industry professionals, providing them with networking opportunities, site visit experiences, professional feedback, internship opportunities and participation in community service and volunteer experiences. Graduates receive a Bachelor of Science degree in Data Analytics or Cybersecurity. By planning early in consultation with an academic advisor, students may be able to reduce the time it takes to complete a bachelor's degree to 3 or 3½ years.
