Lasell University Names Inaugural Head Coaches for Men's and Women's Golf

May 29, 2026

Lasell University Athletics has named Matthew Reid and Corey Vaillancourt as the founding head coaches of the University's new women's and men's golf programs, both of which will begin competition during the 2026–27 academic year.

Reid will lead the women's golf program while continuing as head coach of the Lasell women's basketball team. Vaillancourt has been tapped to guide the men's program.

"As Lasell heads into its inaugural season for men's and women's golf, we are excited to have Matt and Corey leading our programs," said Jamie Marcoux, Assistant Vice President for Athletics. "Both bring a strong commitment along with a deep knowledge and passion for the game that will help our student-athletes grow on and off the course."

Reid brings collegiate playing experience and a genuine love for teaching the game. He competed at Bryant University before going on to play three years of varsity golf at the University of Southern Maine. Over the years, he has worked with players of all ages and skill levels, helping them sharpen their technique, build confidence, and deepen their overall understanding of the game.

Vaillancourt comes to Lasell with a well-rounded background in golf instruction, player development, and collegiate competition. A graduate of Westfield State University, he earned a bachelor’s degree in History and Secondary Education, graduating Cum Laude in 2019. During his four years on the men's golf team, he helped lead Westfield State to the 2018 MASCAC Championship and earned MASCAC Scholar-Athlete honors in 2017, 2018, and 2019.

He currently serves as a Program Coordinator with First Tee Massachusetts/MassGolf, where he oversees curriculum development and coordinates coaches and volunteers across the organization.

The addition of men's and women's golf reflects Lasell's commitment to expanding athletic opportunities and enriching the student-athlete experience. Recruitment for both programs is underway ahead of their 2026–27 debut.
