Neil Share P’98 has found a novel way to support the institution that has been a central part of his family’s life for nearly six decades.

In addition to making annual gifts to the Lasell Fund in honor of his late wife, Elisse Allinson Share ’65 P’98, and daughter, Jennifer ’98 (pictured above at Jennifer's Lasell graduation), Neil enjoys searching for unique Lasell items and then donating them to the Winslow Archives at Brennan Library.

Last summer, he purchased and then donated more than a dozen items, including two Lasell Junior College pennants from 1955; a 100-year-old college yearbook; a Lasell Seminary for Young Women plate; and a pair of graduation invitations from the 1890s — and that was only the latest treasure trove of Lasell history that the retired New Jersey obstetrician-gynecologist gifted to the University.

“We are so thankful for Neil’s generosity in donating these one-of-a-kind items to Lasell,” says Anna Sarneso, director of the Brennan Library. “Every object he has collected tells a story and gives us a greater appreciation for the rich history of Lasell.”

Neil’s donated artifacts are frequently displayed at the annual Founder’s Day celebration organized by the Student Government Association and Student Alumni Association to commemorate the establishment of Lasell in 1851.

“We deeply appreciate Neil’s support of Lasell and his ongoing commitment to preserving our unique history,” says Chelsea Gwyther, vice president of university advancement. “It makes a  difference in the lives of our students.”

Elisse Share, who died at age 69 in 2015, was an active Lasell alumna. She received the Lasell Medal for distinguished service to the University from President Thomas de Witt H’07 and a study room in the Science and Technology Center is named in her honor. A native of Springfield, Massachusetts, she served on both the Board of Trustees and Board of Overseers and, with Neil, established the Elisse Allinson Share ’65 and Jennifer A. Share ’98 Scholarship to support students.

“I hope Lasell alumni, parents, and friends will continue to support Lasell, financially or otherwise,” Neil says. “The future of Lasell is the future of our children and grandchildren.”
