Lasell University Names Eric Turner Provost

Eric Turner, Lasell University ProvostEric M. Turner has been appointed Provost and Professor of Business at Lasell University, effective July 1, 2020. 

Since 2017, Turner has served as Vice President of Graduate and Professional Studies (GPS) at Lasell and is credited with leading a team that has grown enrollment by 64 percent over the course of his tenure. For close to thirty years, Turner has contributed his time and talents to Lasell, serving as an Overseer, Trustee, Chair of the Board of Trustees, Chair of the Presidential Search Committee, and Lasell Village Trustee. 

"Lasell University has been a part of my life for close to three decades and I am incredibly excited to undertake this new challenge as Provost," said Turner. "The opportunity to work directly with faculty to improve the student experience is something I have always wanted to do. I am thrilled for this opportunity and can't wait to get to work."

"Eric Turner is widely recognized as an effective collaborator who brings an entrepreneurial spirit, a wealth of knowledge, and a strategic approach to his new role," said President Michael B. Alexander.

"Since joining the Senior Management Team, Eric has worked closely with faculty and staff to develop new programs, revise curricula to best meet the evolving needs of students and employers, strengthen the quality of the graduate student experience, and recruit and retain students," said Alexander.

Turner came to Lasell following a successful career in both the public and private sectors. For more than 15 years, Turner worked as an independent management consultant, advising chief executive officers of both businesses and nonprofit institutions on strategies to improve personal and organizational performance.

Prior to launching his consulting practice in 2003, Turner spent seven years at State Street Corporation as Senior Vice President, leading two departments.

In addition to his significant corporate experience, Turner - who earned both his MBA and Bachelor of Arts degrees from Harvard University - has held leadership roles in state government, serving as Deputy Treasurer of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and as the Executive Director of the Massachusetts State Lottery Commission. He also worked as an investment banker with the Wall Street firm of Drexel Burnham Lambert and held positions in marketing and finance with IBM.
