Lasell College is one of 13 colleges to partner with the College for Social Innovation's Semester in the City (SiTC) program, where students partake in a 420-hour internship experience alongside professional development courses and seminars.

Two Lasell students are currently enrolled in the SiTC program. Both spend four days a week at their internships in Boston and live in furnished apartments with other SiTC students, provided by the College for Social Innovation (CFSI), in Allston.

SiTC's goal is to "broaden access to life-changing internships and mentors," according to AJ Protin, special assistant to CEO Eric Schwarz. The program pairs participants with internships at nonprofit, government, or social mission driven organizations. Students also have a dedicated mentor and meet with them as well as take courses and seminars to prepare them for life and work after graduation.

"According to a survey from the National Association of Colleges and Employers, students who had an internship or co-op experience during college were 35 percent more likely to receive a job offer," said Protin.

The SiTC program supports Lasell's requirement of every student to complete at least one internship before graduation. The nearly full-time nature of SiTC's internships further prepares students for the working world after graduation, and the city living component offers deeper access to network contacts, industry mentors, and a taste for life in a bustling cultural hub.

Under Lasell's home tuition model, SiTC is treated like study abroad programs at the College. This means that the program in its entirety, including room and board, is covered by their Lasell tuition and any applicable aid received.
