Lasell Votes Commemorates Nat'l Voter Registration Day

September 23, 2020

Lasell Votes Zoom Background: Have You Registered to Vote?

Lasell Votes, a civic engagement initiative at Lasell University, geared up on National Voter Registration Day to help eligible students prepare for the upcoming national election.

With less than 50 days until the 2020 election, Lasell Votes staff members and student ambassadors are eager to equip the community with the information and access they need to vote. Anna Sarneso, director of Brennan Library, and Byrd Hughes, associate director of the Center for Community-Based Learning, are making virtual visits to classes and offering materials for faculty to share with their students.

Lasell Votes student ambassador Anna King created Zoom backgrounds for the community to use (see above and below), particularly during online classes as a reminder to vote. Before the pandemic, student ambassadors sat outside of Valentine Dining Hall and other popular areas to help community members register to vote in their home state; now, a digital forum will be held every Tuesday until the election.

On October 15, Lasell Votes will partner with the Student Government Organization (SGA), Campus Activities Board (CAB), and Lasell Village to host a watch party of that evening’s presidential debate. Roundtable discussions will be held virtually to encourage conversation on the topics at hand.
