Lasell College Welcomes Executives from Marriott, Wynn Resorts to Annual Hospitality Day Event

Executives from several high profile companies, including Marriott and Wynn Resorts, will share their career experiences and knowledge with Hospitality and Event Management students at Lasell's annual Hospitality Day event March 2nd.

The 2nd annual Hospitality Day, created to connect students with professionals in their field of study and provide them with insights about working in the field, will be held from 9 a.m. to 3:50 p.m. in de Witt Hall for students in the major.

"The second annual Hospitality Day is going to be bigger and better this year with more than double the career fair companies and professionals," said senior Deirdre Duddy-Kennedy, one of the event's coordinators.

Duddy-Kennedy and Lasell senior and Hospitality Day co-coordinator Briana Penney were assisted by Lasell sophomores, Alex Hoffman, Lauren Digiandomenico and Madison Garside in coordinating the event.

The Keynote-speaker for the event is David Giblin, Vice President of Sales Northeast for Marriott International, who will speak about his work overseeing sales operations for 95 properties and 200 sales associates along the Northern Atlantic coast from Maine to Delaware.

Giblin, whose talk begins at 10 am, has won several professional awards including ‘General Manager of the Year' by the Massachusetts Lodging Association, and the ‘National Sales Leadership Award' at the 2004 General Managers International Conference.

Hospitality Day's Distinguished Speaker for the event is Robert DeSalvio, President of Wynn Resorts Massachusetts, who oversees the company's development project in Everett, Massachusetts. DeSalvio, who will address the audience during a lunch program, joined Wynn Resorts Development in March 2014 to assist with the company's development activities. DeSalvio is currently a member of the Lasell College Hospitality Advisory Board and the Penn State School of Hospitality Management Industry Advisory Board.

Other events throughout the day include an Alumni Panel Discussion with Amy Sleeper '13, Wedding & Event Coordinator for Willowdale Estate, Jillian Riches '13 Event Specialist for Attend Inc., and Shannon Pasco '15, Social Events Manager for Brandeis University.

A career and internship fair will be held from 2-2:50 pm that includes companies such as Omni Parker House, Wynn Everett, Red Sox Enterprises, Marriott Hotels, Fairmont Copley Plaza and others.

Other topics address throughout the day include The Future of the Hospitality Industry - Trends, Technology & Environment Sustainability, Service and Branding - Costumer Satisfaction, Crisis Management, Branding Sales & Promotion, and a Career & Internship to the end of the day.
