Lasell College Radio to Go Live on FM Dial

December 04, 2014

Lasell's college radio station has been granted a license to broadcast on FM radio station 102.9. Lasell College Radio will share the radio frequency with City of Boston and another non-profit organization.

According to Brian Wardyga Associate Professor of Communication and General Manager of Lasell College Radio, the plan is for Lasell College Radio (WLAS) to broadcast Monday through Saturday from 9 am to 6 pm.

"We are very excited for this opportunity and it will provide our students with the real-world experience of broadcasting in metro Boston, the tenth largest radio market, and have a chance to have their work heard on the FM dial," said Wardyga.

Wardyga added that the new license will provide more exposure, new listeners and may potentially attract production students to the academic program.

The FCC granted a license for a low power FM tower. Wardyga said he expects the newly renovated station could be heard on FM radio by Summer 2015.

Listeners will still be able to tune in to Lasell College Radio at
