Inaugural Speaker for Talk of Ages to Address Gene Editing

Health law and bioethics expert Dr. George J. Annas will speak on the Lasell Campus about the topic of gene editing as part of the RoseMary B. Fuss Center's Talk of Ages lecture series. The talk will be October 6.

Annas, the Warren Distinguished Professor at Boston University, Director of the Center for Health Law, Ethics & Human Rights of BU School of Public Health, and Professor in the BU School of Medicine, and School of Law, is the first speaker in the Talk of Ages: Frontiers in Healthy and Medicine series. His talk, titled Beyond Cloning: Making a "Better" Baby with Gene Editing, begins at 7:30 pm in the Lasell Village ballroom located on Seminary Ave. in Newton.

Annas is the co-founder of Global Lawyers and Physicians and the author or editor of 20 books on health law and bioethics, including Worst Case Bioethics (2010), Public Health Law (2d ed.2014), American Bioethics (2005), and The Rights of Patients (3d ed. 2004). He is a fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, and a member of the National Academy of Medicine.

He is also the author of the recent book Genomic Messages: How the Evolving Science of Genetics Affects Our Health, Families, and Future (2015, with Sherman Elias).
