Lasell University Students Participate in State Collegiate DECA Competition

Students from Lasell University's School of Business and School of Fashion participated in a state-level Collegiate DECA competition on February 22.
Lasell's participants competed against area institutions including Stonehill College, UMass Dartmouth, Endicott College, Salem State University, Curry College, and Middlesex Community College. They presented case studies focused on marketing and communications, fashion, business ethics, and financial accounting. The team included Alexandra Barlett '20, Michael Woo '23, and Victoria Savluk '23.
Five Lasell students were named as winners and will move onto the national DECA competition this spring.
"We are so proud of our student winners -- Jackie Cordeiro '22, Jessica Spillane '20, Cecelia Costa '20, Jessica Cartossa '22, and Gianna Dell'Orfano '20 -- who qualified for the national competition," said Catharine Weiss, associate professor of fashion, who provided faculty support to Lasell's student participants.
DECA, Inc. is home to more than 5,000 collegiate members and over 225,000 members worldwide. According to its website, the organization prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs for careers in marketing, finance, hospitality, and management.
