A Successful Start

Lasell University welcomed new students – both first-years and transfers – to its community this fall. They and their peers returning to the University were given the option to partake in courses as residential students, commuters, or fully online participants.
Courses are offered in in-person, hybrid, and online formats – a model that President Michael B. Alexander acknowledges is possible thanks to faculty who have done “the creative work to deliver courses in different ways to accommodate student preferences.”
The University achieved a modern-day retention record this fall, with 80.79 percent of students choosing to return to Lasell. Combined with the campus’ strong record of frequent testing (more than 9,000 tests to date) and minimal occurrences of COVID-19 (just four since August and none since September 10), these statistics highlight a promising remainder of the 2020-2021 academic year.
“I can’t say I’m surprised,” said President Alexander. “But I am eternally grateful. With one month down … we are doing exceptionally well.”
In a recent video address, he encouraged the community to keep up their diligent social distancing, mask wearing, and hygiene practices.
“Remember, it’s not just about you,” he said. “It’s about everybody.”
