Director of Alumni Relations and Annual Fund

JOB SUMMARY:
This position plays an important role in expanding Lasell College's engagement of alumni and cultivating support. The Director of Alumni Relations and Annual Fund is a highly motivated and creative professional who provides leadership for, and management of, a comprehensive program for advancing the College's relations with its nearly 20,000 contactable alumni.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Develop, implement, and evaluate a comprehensive annual giving solicitation and communication plan for all College constituents with the objectives of increasing engagement and annual dollars raised.
2. Create and oversee alumni communications (including direct mail and email), video, website, and social media outreach by working with staff and vendors to ensure timely delivery of alumni relations and annual fund communications and solicitations.
3. Oversee staff who coordinate on- and off-campus alumni events, including Reunion Weekend and Presidential Speaker Series.
4. Serve as liaison to the Board of Overseers, Parent Council and Lasell College Alumni Board.
5. Oversee the Lasell Fund Scholars Program, Faculty and Staff fundraising, and special fundraising days and events.
6. Enhance an alumni/admissions outreach program for prospective students.
7. Supervise a department with currently four employees.
8. Other duties as assigned.


MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED BY THE JOB:

Minimum Education level:
Applicants with a bachelor's degree or master's degree (preferred) also need a minimum of three years of alumni relations or advancement experience. Applicants who do not have a bachelor's degree who have at least ten year of alumni relations or advancement experience, preferably in higher education, may still apply.


Computer skills:
Knowledge of Microsoft Office Products and desktop publishing is required. Experience with relational databases (currently SalesForce) is highly preferred.

Other Requirements of the Job:

  • Proven ability to work effectively and collaboratively with diverse constituents including faculty, staff, students, community leaders and individuals of all backgrounds.
  • Knowledge of cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies, particularly in the area of annual fund and alumni relations.
  • Excellent oral, written skills and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to oversee a broad spectrum of activities concurrently; a proven track record in setting and achieving ambitious goals; and the ability to manage a multitude of tasks and meet required deadlines.
  • Must work autonomously as well as interact effectively as a team member on myriad tasks and special events/projects. 
  • Ability to adapt one's communication styles, approaches, and skills in a manner that reflects an appreciation for, and commitment to, our increasingly diverse workplace and alumni community.
  • Must be able and willing to work some evenings and weekends, and travel as needed.
