Assistant Professor of Health Science

The School of Health Sciences at Lasell University in Newton, Massachusetts seeks a highly motivated, entrepreneurial, and collaborative individual to assume the responsibilities of Assistant Professor of Health Science for a Fall 2022 appointment. The successful candidate will join our growing undergraduate and graduate health sciences programs in the dynamic School of Health Sciences, established in 2018. More senior rank will be considered based on experience and other credentials and an opportunity for incentive compensation based on attracting, retaining and graduating students is available.

Our recently opened a state-of-the-art Science and Technology Center offers specialized laboratories including 4 science labs, exercise physiology lab, computer lab, health profession clinic, multipurpose classrooms, 29 faculty offices, and specialized study rooms.

Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will demonstrate excellence and enthusiasm in teaching and student advocacy; commitment to productivity and professional development; and active participation in school and college service that includes but is not limited to faculty standing committee work and academic advising.

Teaching responsibilities include Health Science courses and additional teaching assignments where expertise aligns with program needs. The ideal candidate should be highly experienced and skilled in undergraduate health profession education and public and community health curriculum development. Course development including clinical and didactic instruction in the public and community health fields, and health profession disciplines is required. Successful candidates should demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching excellence, serving as a champion for health science programs through positive interaction with prospective students and the public.

Student mentoring, academic advising at the undergraduate level, and new course development to support the dynamic and growing area is required. Candidates should have strong communication and interpersonal skills and a commitment to collegiality and teamwork.

Our growing undergraduate and graduate programs are looking to enhance and diversify offerings. The successful candidate will have the ability to work both within and beyond program specific needs to shape the on-going development of the curricula offered within the School of Health Sciences.

Successful candidates will demonstrate an avid interest in utilizing a project-focused approach to teaching, supporting the University’s educational philosophy, Connected Learning. Faculty in all disciplines at Lasell may have the opportunity to teach in our Honors Program as well as the Core Curriculum, which could include teaching First Year Seminar, a Knowledge Perspective course in one of four areas, a sophomore multidisciplinary course, or a section of the junior Ethics Experience. Qualifications:

  • A doctorate in Nursing, Medicine, Health Profession, or related field required. Master’s in Public Health preferred. Exceptional ABD or MS candidates with teaching and clinical experience will also be considered.
  • Current certification and licensure as a health care professional
  • Collegiate-level teaching experience
  • Skillful in attracting, retaining and graduating new students
  • Ability to teach upper level courses in the Health Science and Public Health majorsServe as a research advisor for undergraduate and graduate students
