Assistant Professor of Athletic Training and Coordinator of Clinical Education and Internships

The School of Health Sciences seeks a highly motivated and collaborative individual to assume the responsibilities of Assistant Professor of Athletic Training and Coordinator of Clinical Education and Internships for a Fall 2020 appointment. More senior rank will be considered based on experience and other credentials.

Responsibilities:

  • The Coordinator of Clinical Education and Internships for the School of Health Sciences is responsible for oversight of the clinical education of the CAATE accredited Masters of Science in Athletic Training (MSAT) as well as for internship coordination of a CAAHEP accredited Exercise Science Program and Fitness Management Program. Responsibilities of the position include:
  • Preceptors/Supervisors recruitment, selection, and evaluation
  • Student assignments to clinical experiences and internships
  • Site evaluations - including site visits
  • Student evaluations
  • Regular communication with preceptors and supervisors
  • Professional development of preceptors and supervisors
  • Procurement of new Clinical and Internship sites
  • Attaining and maintaining the Athletic Training Program as a Board of Certification (BOC) Approve Provider


Teaching responsibilities include core athletic training courses within the candidate's area of expertise and the exercise science internship courses, and additional teaching assignments where expertise aligns with program needs. We are especially interested in applicants with interest in interprofessional education.

Successful candidates will demonstrate an avid interest in utilizing a project-focused approach to teaching. Our growing undergraduate and graduate programs are looking to enhance and diversify offerings. The successful candidate will have the ability to work both within and beyond program specific needs to shape the on-going development of the curricula offered within the School of Health Sciences. Faculty in all disciplines at Lasell may have the opportunity to teach in our Honors Program as well as the Core Curriculum, which could include teaching First Year Seminar, a Knowledge Perspective course in one of four areas, a sophomore multidisciplinary course, or a section of the junior Ethics Experience. The successful candidate will demonstrate excellence and enthusiasm in teaching and student advocacy; commitment to productivity and professional development; and active participation in department and college service that includes but is not limited to faculty standing committee work and academic advising.

Qualifications:
BOC certified and eligible for licensure in Massachusetts required. Terminal degree in the health professions or related field. ABD will also be considered. Prior college teaching and administrative experience preferred. Certification through NSCA or ACSM preferred.
