Adjunct Faculty- Business Management

The School of Business at Lasell University seeks adjunct instructors of Business Management for on-campus courses in the Fall 2021 term.

Responsibilities and Duties:

Though courses will be held on campus in the fall of 2021, applicants should be prepared to offer hybrid model of instruction that includes on-campus face to face and online component for course sessions utilizing the college philosophy of connected learning (teaching and learning support provided for instructors)

Incorporate the use of Canvas Learning Management System in all aspects of course delivery

Maintain weekly office hours

Provide a syllabus and course outline to students that clearly communicates course content and requirements via Canvas Learning Management System

Provide timely feedback to students as defined by the Teaching and Learning Guidelines established by Lasell University Teaching and Learning Center

Keep accurate records of student progress through the Canvas gradebook feature

Complete mid-semester progress reports, and submit final grade in Self-Service System by registrar established deadline

Work collaboratively with Business Program Chair and university faculty on course content requirements and methods of delivery


Qualifications:

Terminal degree preferred but will consider applicants with master’s degrees in Business Administration (MBA) and industry experience. Requires college-level teaching experience, a familiarity with online learning management systems preferred.

Courses include:
Business Fundamentals, Principles of Marketing, Professional Development in Business, Excel for Business, Financial Accounting, Managerial Accounting, Marketing Communications.

Example Course Descriptions:

Excel for Business

This course introduces students to basic Microsoft Excel skills. Excel is an electronic spreadsheet program used for storing, organizing, and manipulating data. It is critical to the business world today as the volume data generated has exploded. This introductory course will provide students with information and skills needed to create basic workbooks and worksheets, create simple formulas, copy, and move data, format data and cells, work in large spreadsheets and with data series, create pivot tables, and more. As part of this course, all students will have the opportunity to become certified in Microsoft Excel through the professional certification called Microsoft Office Specialist: Excel 2016 – Core Data Analysis, Manipulation, and Presentation. The certification also comes with an electronic badge. Students are also introduced to Income Statements, Balance Sheets, Statement of Cash Flows, Ratios, and the Basic Accounting Cycle

Financial Management

This course provides an introduction to the fundamental concepts of finance. Various techniques of analysis that reveal the relationships of risk, return, and value are demonstrated. Topics include: financial reporting; long- and short-term forecasting; managing working capital; capital budgeting; and the nature of corporate securities and debt-equity mix.

Managerial Accounting

In this course, students gain experience in the development and use of information within an organization. Course topics include: cost terms; production costing; cost allocation for planning and control; cost behavior patterns; cost-volume-profit relationships; budgeting; inventory planning and control; pricing decisions; and aspects of investment decisions.
