Adjunct Faculty - Psychology and Sociology

The Social Sciences Program in the School of Social Sciences, Humanities & Education at Lasell College is seeking both a Psychology and a Sociology instructor for part-time, face-to-face openings to teach our introductory level courses for the Spring, 2020 semester. Someone with the right background might be able to teach both.

PSYC101: Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays 10 - 10:50
SOC101: Wednesdays and Fridays 11 - 12:15

Note: We are also currently looking for an instructor to teach Experimental Design Tuesdays & Thursdays 11 - 12:15 with a lab Fridays 12 - 2.

Responsibilities and Duties:
• Provide instruction for all sessions of assigned courses utilizing the college philosophy of connected learning.
• Provide a syllabus and course outline to students that clearly communicates course learning outcomes.
• Align some course assignments with departmental and college core curriculum goals learning goals and provide student work samples for college assessment purposes (sample assignments available)
• Maintain office hours each week.
• Incorporate Canvas (online learning platform) into the course - training is provided.
• Keep accurate records of student progress/grades and complete mid-semester and final grade reports.

Qualifications:
These courses are part of our general education core curriculum as well as being introductions to higher level coursework in the majors; thus, the successful candidate will have experience teaching students from a variety of majors and be willing to collaborate with other instructors on core curriculum and major-specific learning goals. A willingness to incorporate the college's Connected Learning Philosophy into the course as well as a master's degree in a related field are required (doctoral degree preferred). Career-relevant experience such as counseling, social work or research is a plus. When applying, please specify which class or classes you are available to teach in your cover letter.
