Adjunct Faculty in Principles of Biology

The School of Health Sciences at Lasell University seeks an adjunct professor to teach (1) section of   Principles of Biology and (1) section of Principles of Biology Laboratory in the Fall 2022 semester.

The courses will meet in person:

·       Tuesday and Thursdays    3:30-4:45 PM  (BIO101.B)

·       Mondays                            3:30-5:10 PM (BIO 101.LC)

 

Course Title: Principles of Biology

Description

This is an introductory lecture and laboratory course in biology to develop an appreciation for the patterns and functions that characterize living organisms. Emphasis is placed on cellular biology. Topics include: the chemistry of life, cell structure, and cell metabolism (respiration, photosynthesis, protein synthesis.) Co-requisites: BIO101L

Course Title: Principles of Biology Laboratory

Description

This laboratory course supports and reinforces the the concepts presented in the Principles of Biology I lecture. Topics include: the chemistry of life, cell structure, and cell metabolism (respiration, photosynthesis, protein synthesis). Co-requisites: BIO101

Responsibilities and Duties:

Provide instruction for all sessions of assigned courses utilizing the college philosophy of connected learning
Align course assignments with departmental learning outcomes and university core curriculum learning outcomes; provide student work samples for assessment purposes
Incorporate Canvas (learning management system) into the course
Maintain office hours each week
Keep accurate records of student progress and complete mid-semester and final grade reports
Minimum Qualifications:

• Candidates should have M.S, M.Ed., or equivalent (PhD preferred) in related field

• Prior undergraduate-level teaching experience

• Strong communication skills, ability to provide mentorship and guidance remotely by email, phone and or video call, and willingness to offer extensive feedback on student work Required
