Campus Life

Updated November 2017

Dear McClelland Residents:
As the end of the semester quickly approaches we want to inform you of an important Winter Break Housing (WBH) process that impacts McClelland Hall residents. McClelland Hall is the designated location for Winter Break Housing on campus, this designation is noted in the 2017-2018 Housing Agreement you signed on-line. You can find a copy of the Housing Agreement on MyLasell under the MyHousing Tab.

Over the break, students who need to remain on campus while the college is closed will consolidate into McClelland Hall to ensure safety. The department hires 3 Resident Assistants for the break period in McClelland Hall to act as an in-hall resource so our student staff is more assessable to our students staying during the break. You will NOT need to move all of your belongings home with you, however, we do recommend that you consider buying a bike lock and using your wardrobe as a storage unit.

In an effort to offer you some helpful hints, and in order to smoothly facilitate the Winter Break Housing process, the Office of Residential Life will be holding TWO information sessions where you can ask any lingering questions you may have. The first will be Tuesday, November 14th at 2:00pm in the Athletic Center Classroom; and the second will be Thursday, November 30th at 2:00pm in the Student Affairs Conference Room (top floor of Edwards).

After reviewing this page, if you have completed either of the optional resources below, please post them on the inside of your room door so the Winter Break Resident will easily be able to see them. We also require that prior to you leaving for the break you strip your beds and make certain that your room is clean and relatively neat. The individual(s) assigned to your room understand and have agreed to the following:

    • They are prohibited from using the belongings of the current residents (unless given permission) in the space to which they have temporarily been assigned.
    • They must provide their own linens, pillows, towels, and toiletries over the Winter Break period.
    • The Office of Residential Life will be taking photos/video of each room prior to the Winter Break Resident moving in.

Be aware that the individual(s) assigned to your room will be vacating that space just a few days prior to the reopening of residential buildings on January 15, 2018.

If you have any questions feel free to email Jeremy LaPointe at or Elisa Scarsella-Bayiates at

In the sections below you will find helpful items to aid in the WBH transition:

Inventory List: We are encouraging students, prior to leaving in December, to make a detailed list of the belongings left in your room over the winter break. Please also indicate a brief description of the condition of your belongings that were left.

Letter to Winter Break Resident: Please formulate a short, concise letter to the individual(s) residing in your space. Please indicate to them in a proper manner what you would not like them to touch/use, or what (if anything) you give them permission to use.

Frequently Asked Questions: Some questions we have received in the past that relate specifically to Winter Break Housing. It might be a good idea to review this list prior to attending one of the above information sessions.
