Laser Link Orientation 2020

Laser Link Orientation 2020

Orientation

Welcome to Laser Link Orientation!

The Office of Student Activities & Orientation is continuing Lasell's usual two-part Laser Link Orientation program, but this year with virtual and in-person events due to the ongoing COVID-19 situation (please see our COVID-19 information page, which is continually being updated).

New student Orientation is when new students and family members are officially welcomed as formal members of the University community. The Orientation program is vitally important to make sure students know the resources available to help them succeed. We look forward to welcoming all new students, both first year and transfer, and their loved ones to campus virtually and in-person this summer. We can't wait to have you be a part of Laser Nation!

This year, we are holding our Laser Link Orientation (for all first-year students) and our Laser Transfer Transitions (an additional event specifically for transfer students) together in a hybrid fashion with virtual and in-person programming.

In June, a virtual orientation session which will include pre-registration, advising for Fall 2020 courses, and ways for students to stay connected. Then,  just prior to the Lasell Laser Welcome Weekend at the start of the fall semester,  in-person orientation sessions are planned.  The Orientation team is also planning a special orientation program for parents and family members.

Virtual sessions to be completed by students at home in June are video modules presented via Canvas, our Learning Management System, and live Zoom sessions. Students will learn about the core curriculum, finances, and life at the University. They will interact through Zoom with fellow new students and an Orientation Leader team.  Students will be welcomed by Lasell University President Michael B. Alexander, as well as faculty, staff, administrators, and Orientation Leaders throughout the virtual process.

Orientation Next Steps:

  • Please register for one of the three sessions on the Orientation Registration site and you will be contacted by one of the Orientation Leaders. This is a FREE program.
  • IMPORTANT: If you have already registered for Orientation, we soon will ask that you sign back on and complete the additional questions.
We will be in touch with students directly to share when it is ready for you to update. Because the Academic Advisors will be making your schedules, we have added a few more questions to the Orientation Registration site. This will ensure that you will receive an appropriate class schedule.
  • For those students who have already registered for Orientation, we will be administrating refunds for your Orientation registration, beginning at the end of May and continue through the month of June.  If you do not see your refund by July, please let us know. Thank you for your patience and flexibility. There will be more information provided in August about the fall portion of Orientation as well as Lasell Laser Welcome Weekend.

The Office of Student Activities & Orientation is available Monday through Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.  You can reach us at studentactivities@lasell.edu or at 617-243-2475.
