Design Portfolio Review

Join Lasell's Fashion Design and Production and Graphic Design faculty on campus for a face-to-face portfolio review where industry experts evaluate your work for the possibility of receiving a scholarship.

Benefits of a Portfolio Review

Students who participate in a portfolio review will be able to:

  • Receive information about Lasell University and its design programs.
  • Tour campus, including the dedicated studio space located in the Yamawaki Cultural Arts Center, Donahue Center for the Creative & Applied Arts, Wedeman Gallery, and the Lasell Fashion Collection.
  • Meet their future professors and learn about the world of professional artistry.
  • Be considered for an annual scholarship of up to $3,000. Note: High School seniors must complete a portfolio review on or before Nov. 15 of each year to be eligible for scholarship consideration.

Portfolio Requirements

Portfolios should consist of  5-10 pieces of work. We strongly encourage submitting digital portfolios via website link, pdf, or jpg. Digital submissions should be sent to If you choose to submit a physical portfolio, it should be brought to campus not mailed. 

Submission should include the following types of work:

Fashion Design and Production

  • Photographs
  • Two or three-dimensional fine art
  • Fashion sketches on figure
  • Garment constructions

Graphic Design

  • Photographs
  • Paintings
  • Drawings
  • Graphic Design exhibits (typography in combination with illustration or photos)

Portfolio Review Criteria

Students' work will be assessed on the following criteria:

  • visual composition
  • execution
  • effective communication
  • originality
  • technological skills

Professors will provide students with verbal feedback during the review and will complete an in-depth review after. Based on the formal review, students will potentially be awarded an annual scholarship.
