Welcome Athletes

At Lasell University, because we value the whole person, our finest athletes and best students are often the same people. Student-athletes balance academics with athletics and benefit from the many opportunities for personal growth.

Be your best at Lasell - as both an athlete and a student. Lasell University is a member of the NCAA Division III and the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC). The university follows the philosophy and the guidelines of NCAA Division III.

Athletic Center 

The Athletic Center, which includes a regulation-size gymnasium, an overhead track, and a satellite athletic training room, is open more than 80 hours/week. The Athletic Center is open to all members of the Lasell community throughout the year and offers a schedule of "open" gym time. The gym is staffed by a CPR-certified student during all open hours. 

Fitness Centers

There are fitness centers located in McClelland Hall and Edwards Hall, which are staffed by CPR-certified students during all open hours. 

Group Exercise Classes

Aerobics classes are offered 4-6 times per week during the school year. These classes are open to all members of the Lasell community and are held in the dance studio of the athletic center. The classes include Pilates, cardio kickboxing, step aerobics, and muscle conditioning. Class schedules are posted in the Athletic Center.


All members of the Lasell community have access to free canoe and kayak rentals, Monday - Friday, at Charles River Canoe and Kayak in Waltham. The rental location is 211 Moody Street; Waltham, MA. A valid Lasell ID can be used to rent canoes or kayaks at this location. For more information or to inquire about weekend rentals contact the athletic department at 617-243-2147. Students can also receive a 20% discount by presenting their student identification at the Riverside Boathouse on Commonwealth Avenue, near the Marriott.


The Athletic Department sponsors intramural events throughout the year, currently including Esports (FIFA 19, Madden NFL 19, Modern Warfare), ping pong, billiards, corn hole, and recreational running. Other sports that have been offered include flag football, basketball, 3v3 pond hockey, bocce, paddleball, and dodgeball, and future sports include soccer and volleyball (in both the gym and the sand).
