- With the Global Studies degree program, the world becomes the classroom as students activate a personal affiliation with and responsibility for the globe.
- Students earn academic credit through service learning that is organized to connect them to the greater community while deepening and enriching their education in their discipline.
- The Global Studies major is intentionally interdisciplinary to allow students to follow their passions while still receiving a solid foundation rooted in the Humanities.
- Lasell's School of Humanities, Education, Justice & Social Sciences has degree programs in Criminal Justice, Education, English, Global Studies, History, Law & Public Affairs, Legal Studies, Psychology, and Sociology.
The Connected Learning philosophy at Lasell combines traditional approaches with active learning experiences to prepare students to succeed in a diverse, complex world. The Connected Learning philosophy is incorporated in the Global Studies major:
- The curriculum includes course sequences in business and communication, as well as relevant courses in philosophy and political science to support the development of critical thinking skills
- Students also study environmental science to be prepared as responsible global caretakers
- History and anthropology courses help students understand their world and their humanity
- World language and literature courses add depth and breadth to students' appreciation of the human condition in the global context
- Students engage in at least one international experience, and are encouraged to take part in international service learning trips.
