Information Technology

The Information Technology degree program is designed to prepare students for Information Technology management and for entrepreneurial opportunities within this rapidly growing and challenging field.  This program is rooted in Connected Learning, requires students to gain at least one internship within a technology firm, and provides students with multiple opportunities to earn industry certifications and badges.  Students can choose a concentration in Data Analytics, Cybersecurity or Media and Mobile Development.

  The major is designed to train students for flourishing careers in the dynamic and challenging field of Information Technology.  Students will learn about supporting operating systems, designing networks, and tailoring programs for multiple types of businesses. Through a multidisciplinary approach, students majoring in Information Technology gain the expertise, commitment, and skills for management positions in this expanding industry through a comprehensive background in the business world including accounting, human resources, organizational behavior, technology, and marketing. They learn about the inner workings of the information technology industry through courses such as programming, data analytics, business statistics, information security, project and program management and financial analysis to learn how information technology supports the business world.   Our School of Business Advisory Board connects students with industry professionals, providing them with networking opportunities, site visit experiences, professional feedback, internship opportunities and participation in community service and volunteer experiences. Graduates receive a Bachelor of Science degree in Information Technology.   By planning early in consultation with an academic advisor, students may be able to reduce the time it takes to complete a bachelor's degree in Information Technology to 3 or 3½ years.
