Welcome to the Lasell College community! We are very much looking forward to you joining us on campus and are busily preparing for your arrival.
Navigating Lasell & Boston, the fall portion of Lasell’s Orientation program, is designed to 'kick-off' the start of the school year. A variety of programs have been created, ranging from educational and informative to pure fun. Our goal is to provide you with opportunities to get to know each other as a class, and later in the weekend to get to know some of our upper-class students who will be returning to campus. There are programs scheduled for each day, Thursday through Sunday. More information on how to sign up is located on Lasell's NLB site. Fenway Park Tour
Join Professors Cris Haverty, Janice Savitz & Bill Nowlan from the Departments of Sports Science, Management and Athletic Training for a tour of Fenway Park. This trip provides fans with a behind-the-scenes look at America’s most beloved ballpark. Visit the park where the Babe pitched, The Kid hit, Yaz dazzled and Manny and Ortiz still thrill fans today. Soak up the rich history; hear the echoes of the past. Touch the Green Monster, imagine being one of the “Knights of the

Duck Tour
Join Faculty members from the Departments of Business & Hospitality for a tour of Boston like no other. The fun begins as soon as you board your “DUCK”, an authentic, renovated World War II amphibious landing vehicle. First, you’ll be greeted by one of the legendary tour Con DUCKtors, who’ll be narrating your tour. Then you’re off on a journey like you’ve never had before. You’ll cruise by all the places that make Boston the birthplace of freedom and a city of firsts, from the golden-domed State House to Bunker Hill and the TD Banknorth Garden, Boston Common and Copley Square to the Big Dig, Government Center to fashionable Newbury Street, Quincy Market to the Prudential Tower, and more. And, as the best of Boston unfolds before your eyes, your Con DUCKtor will be giving you lots of little known facts and interesting insights about our unique and wonderful city. And just when you think you’ve seen it all, there’s more. It’s time for “Splashdown” as your Con DUCKtor splashes your DUCK right into the Charles River for a breathtaking view of the Boston and Cambridge skylines, the kind of view you just won’t get anywhere else. This outing is open to ALL STUDENTS, but BUSINESS AND HOSPITALITY MAJORS are encouraged to attend. The outing will leave fromthe Campus Center at 9:30 AM. You will only need additional money for lunch.
A Justice Walking Tour - Downtown Boston
This tour will be led by Professors David Carlson and Ed Sieh, and encompasses the “triangle of criminal power and political power and law enforcement” postulated by former Attorney General Tom Reilly. This is the tour of the locations of the State House, the Boston FBI Field Division, and 90 Prince Street, the former headquarters of Boston’s La Cosa Nostra. Incorporating crime and economics, student will discuss the 1950 “Brink’s Robbery” when we reach its site, 165 Prince Street, North End. This outing is open to ALL STUDENTS, but CRIMINAL JUSTICE AND LEGAL STUDIES MAJORS are encouraged to attend. The outing will leave from the Campus Center at 10:00 AM. You will only need additional money for lunch.
Boston Movie Mile Walking Tour
Professor Sidney Trantham from the Psychology Department will take movie fans on a guided tour of Boston’s filming hotspots made famous by your favorite TV shows and movies. Learn behind-the-scenes trivia and insider gossip about Good Will Hunting, The Departed, Ally McBeal, Mystic River, Cheers and many more. The most filmed part of Boston, the Boston Movie Mile includes over 30 filming locations. As you weave through the picturesque Beacon Hill area, you will walk in the same steps as your favorite actors and actresses. Highlights include: Get the inside track on Martin Scorsese’s latest gangster movie, The Departed; Sit on the famous park bench from Good Will Hunting; Discover the street of the Blown Away runaway car crash; Learn the secrets behind filming Boston TV shows. This program is open to ALL STUDENTS. The outing will leave from the Campus Center at 10:00 AM. You will only need additional money for lunch.
Double-City Tour
Vice President James Ostrow and Dean Steven Bloom will take students through Boston’s Copley Plaza and explore Boston’s Back Bay. Then make your way toward the Public Garden and Boston Common and visit some of Boston’s historical sights on the world famous Freedom Trail as well as some other fun stops. The tour will finish up in Cambridge at unique and historic Harvard Square. This program is open to ALL STUDENTS. The outing will leave from the Campus Center at 10:30 AM. You will only need additional money for lunch.
John F. Kennedy Library & Museum Tour
Professor Janice Barrett, chair of the Communication Department, will travel with students back into the recreated world of the early 1960s and experience first hand the life and legacy of President John F. Kennedy. Period settings from the White House and 25 multimedia exhibits create a stirring account of President Kennedy’s thousand days in office. Housed in a striking building designed by I.M. Pei, the national memorial to President Kennedy sits on a 10-acre waterfront site on Columbia Point offering panoramic views of Boston’s skyline and Harbor Islands. Students will have the opportunity to explore the library, museum and have lunch before heading back to campus. This program is open to ALL STUDENTS. The outing will leave from the Campus Center at 10:30 AM. You will only need additional money for lunch.
Saturday Evening
New Student Boston Harbor Cruise
Join the newest members of the Lasell College Community for a beautiful night on Boston’s most common waterway! The boat will have snacks and drinks available for purchase.
• Don’t forget to bring a sweater or jacket...evenings on the water can be cool
• There will be a DJ for dancing the night away!
• Buses will depart at 6:45 PM from the Campus Center. You will return to campus around 11:30 PM

Cape Cod Cultural Center
Join Fashion Department Chair, Richard Bath and members of the fashion faculty for your very first Lasell College Connected Learning experience! Traveling to the beautiful Cape Cod Museum of Art, we will view original Hollywood costumes of conservator and collector John LeBold. Among the garments we will see are; Dorothy’s pinafore from the Wizard of Oz, Marilyn Monroe’s evening gown from Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, and the black leather jacket worn by Arnold Schwarzenegger in the Terminator. Also on display are various Hollywood memorabilia such as the golden idol from “Raiders of the Lost Ark.” Mr. LeBold, a Cape Cod resident, will be available for questions and discussion at the end of our viewing. This outing is open to ALL STUDENTS, but FASHION MAJORS are encouraged to attend. The outing will leave from the Campus Center at 9:00 AM. You will only need additional money for lunch.
TOMB
Professor Brian Wardyga will be taking a group of adventurous students to the new TOMB exhibit. TOMB, now showing at 5 Wits Boston, is set in an incredibly realistic pharaoh’s tomb in an archaeological dig site in ancient Egypt. Located in the heart of Boston, 5WITS is the company producing TOMB. Participants get to play the role of hero in their own adventure, as they are confronted with puzzles, challenges, twists, and traps to test their bodies and minds. Sharp eyes, good ears, and quick wits will be required for any chance of successfully completing your personal adventure! For more information check out: www.5-wits.com. New England Aquarium
Dean Helena Santos will lead a trip to one of Boston’s most popular attractions. Conveniently located on Boston’s waterfront, the New England Aquarium features more than 20,000 animals of 600 different species. Highlights include the 4-story, 200,000 gallon Giant Ocean Tank that recreates a Caribbean coral reef environment, complete with sharks, sea turtles, rays and fish; the penguin exhibit, featuring three species and more than 60 birds; and the Edge of the Sea tide pool touch tank, where visitors of any age can interact hands-on with sea stars, horseshoe crabs, sea urchins, periwinkles and more (source: http://www.bostonusa.com). River Clean Up
Join the Center for Community-Based Learning for an outdoor service project! You can help beautify your new neighborhood by joining other Lasell students in cleaning up the banks of the Charles River. The service project will take approximately one hour, after which you will have the opportunity to canoe or kayak for free. It is a satisfying service project and a great way to meet other incoming students. Also, returning Lasell students who are active in community service will be participating so this is a great way to learn about service opportunities around Lasell! This program is open to ALL STUDENTS. The outing will leave from the Campus Center at 1:00 PM.
