Institutional Research

The Institutional Research (IR) department at Lasell College transforms data into information that supports strategic planning, policy making, decision making, and assessment. IR is charged with determining the "official" data for the institution, and reporting them to external government agencies and private survey firms. Activities include:

    • Working with Lasell's managers to clarify business processes and data definitions
    • Partnering with data trustees to identify potential data anomalies and supporting the cleansing process as needed
    • Extracting data from Lasell's internal operational systems to build historical snapshots of key performance indicators (KPI) at regular and comparable time periods
    • Providing the Board of Trustees and Senior Management with performance dashboards
    • Preparing institutional studies in such areas as academic reviews, student enrollment, retention and graduation, faculty salary, and comparative studies using peer institutions
    • Designing and conducting internal surveys to provide qualitative data to decision makers

Institutional Research collects data from comparative state and national sources, such as the Association of Governing Boards and the National Center for Education Statistics. Comparative institutional information is also obtained through participation in national and regional studies.

President Alexander Responds to the Tragedy in Orlando  Thursday, June 16, 2016We the people of the United States cherish our freedoms. Whether it be the freedom to say what we want, to assemble in groups of our choosing, to follow the religions of our choice, to vote as our conscience demands, to own and carry weapons, to start new businesses and make money, and to move about as we please -- these are values we hold dear and are reluctant to compromise.
