Zinn’s "Marx in Soho" Comes to Lasell

February 15, 2012

The late Howard Zinn's play "Marx in Soho," which introduces audiences to Karl Marx's life, analysis of society and passion for change, comes to Lasell Thursday, February 16 for a one-man performance by national touring actor Bob Weick. The performance will be at 7 pm in Yamawaki Auditorium.

In the play, Marx launches into a passionate, funny and moving defense of his life and political ideas. The Marx character uses current news and events to show how his ideas still resonate. The 70-minute production challenges its audience to consider the issues of social justice.

Celebrated actor Bob Weick has been actively touring "Marx in Soho" for seven years with over 2000 productions around the country from Maine to California.

The play was written by the late renowned historian and activist Howard Zinn, who is widely known for his books "A People's History of the United States," and "The Twentieth Century." Zinn was a professor emeritus at Boston University and the chair of the History Department at Spelman College where he actively participated in the civil rights movement.

The program is sponsored by Lasell's Donahue Institute for Values and Public Life.
