Wedeman Gallery Hosts ART/Word Opening Reception, Exhibit

February 27, 2014

A collaboration of 25 artists featuring pieces inspired by their own or another's written correspondence - real or imagined - opens this weekend at the Wedeman Gallery.

On March 1, Lasell College will host an opening reception for the "Letters" exhibit beginning at 7 p.m. with a cabaret performance and a short film, Blank, produced by Lasell Graphic Arts Chair Professor Kenneth Calhoun and featuring Lasell Graphic Arts Professor, founder of ART/Word and actor Stephen Fisher.

The event will take place at Lasell's Wedeman Gallery in the Yamawaki Art and Cultural Center off Myrtle Ave.

"ART/Word is an artist collaborative first established in 1980. Each show begins with a theme and every artist is challenged to present a written text and a piece of visual art that illustrates or in some way relates to that written text," said Fisher.

More information about the exhibit and the collaborative can be found online.

President Alexander Responds to the Tragedy in Orlando  Thursday, June 16, 2016We the people of the United States cherish our freedoms. Whether it be the freedom to say what we want, to assemble in groups of our choosing, to follow the religions of our choice, to vote as our conscience demands, to own and carry weapons, to start new businesses and make money, and to move about as we please -- these are values we hold dear and are reluctant to compromise.
